Starburst Enterprise platform (SEP) 438-e STS has been released as a follow-up to the 435-e LTS release.

This latest version of SEP is based on Trino 438 and includes new enterprise features and enhancements in addition to those in the following Trino releases:

Here are some of the feature highlights that we’ve included in this enterprise release:

  • Built-in access control (BIAC) now supports privileges that control access to object storage locations.
  • Apache Ozone is now supported as an S3 storage backend for the Delta Lake, Hive, and Iceberg object storage connectors.
  • Information about a query’s resource group is now included in the SEP UI when viewing query details and history.

As discussed in a previous blog post, this release of SEP is the first to require Java 21. Read the Java support updates blog post for more information.

In addition to these enterprise enhancements, all features added in recent Trino releases are included as well. Here are some highlights from these releases:

  • Support for Elasticsearch 8.
  • A new OpenSearch connector.
  • Faster selective joins on partition columns.

For the complete list of features, changes, and fixes in this latest SEP release, read the release notes for 438-e.
